Canis Dirus

While I am a book-lover, I’m a big fan of going out and collecting my own references when possible. It is, in my opinion, good to unplug, get out of the studio, and take a field trip once in a while.

Now, while my preferred subject matter is fantasy, that does not mean that I don’t have a whole freaking lot to learn from the natural world, so, when possible, I take trips to the zoo and do life sketches, head to the museum and take photograps, and head out into nearby parks to immerse myself in nature.

Most of my sketches and photos are… well, they’re not bad. They’re not great though. The photos in particular are there just to be references; composition and such isn’t taken into consideration. However, this particular shot isn’t too bad, so I thought that I’d share it. Maybe it’ll be of interest to someone else studying such things too.
