Ardghal was not more than a humble traveler. He sang at bars for pay, and told marvelous tales of monsters and unsuspecting heroes to young and old, asking in return only a little food, drink, and shelter for the night. Life was simple for Ardghal, and he was quite content, reliving adventures of those who were far braver than he in each retelling of those old tales. But one evening he was handed a strange dagger in payment for one of his accounts.

“Ye be weary when passing through the woods next morn. For the fire-eyed beast dwells there, waiting for those who travel through.”

Ardghal, having heard many stories, paid little heed, but was thankful for the blade never the less. The next morning, he headed out to the woods, whistling a merry tune as he went. That was, he did, until out of the blue, something out of legend sprung out from the nearby rocks, and Ardghal suddenly found himself to be an unsuspecting hero in a story all his own.
